Kanana Wilderness is a vast private game reserve of over 30 000 Ha. We are on the Ghanzi ridge, a limestone aquifer with abundant shallow undergorund water which supports our rich variety of wildlife.

Motswiri Lodge, a luxury tented safari camp, is situated in Kanana Wilderness overlooking a natural water hole, and holds peace and tranquility to welcome you.

Ghanzi is on the Trans-Kalahari highway, which links the ports of Namibia with the urban centres of South Africa. This means a quality tar road all the way to Ghanzi from anywhere in Botswana, Namibia or South Africa. If you would prefer to fly, there is an international airport in Maun, which receives direct flights from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Gaborone. It is a three hour drive from Maun to Kanana Wilderness, or a 45 minute hop from Maun to the Kanana Wilderness airstrip, which is located on the reserve. We offer a collection service from Maun or Ghanzicheetahs.jpg

The Bushmen or San have nomadically roamed the Kalahari for thousands of years, feeding off the land and managing to stay uniquely separated from society and technology. Although they are coming under increasing pressure to conform with society, Kanana Wilderness is one of the few places in the world where Bushmen can be seen practicing the same way of life that they have done for centuries.

Kanana Wilderness has a selection of horses which are available for horse rides, or for the adventurous, a horse safari, where you ride during the day and sleep in a fly camp at night.
